Accompanied by your private local guide, Mikumi and Udzungwa Mountains Retreat is the perfect way to find out more about the environment and wildlife of Southern circuit of Tanzania.In these Six days in Tanzania, you’ll explore the country’s sothern safari park circuit covering limitless wildlife drives in Mikumi National Park and Udzungwa Mountains National Park

Day 1

On arrival in Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), you will be met by our representative and then be transferred to your hotel in Dar es salaam. Today you will relax and farmiliarize yourself with the new home,or simply relax by the pool. Overnight Holiday Inn

DAY 2: Transfer to Mikumi + Afternoon gamedrive

Early in the morning, be picked up from youy Hotel and transfer to Mikumi national park (6 Hours drive), have   brief stopover on the way for lunch and continue to Mikumi national park arriving in the afternoon.  Embark on a game drive in the park in search for wildlife such as buffaloes, giraffes, lions etc. Overnight at Camp Bastian.

DAY 3: Full day Gamedrive at Mikumi National Park

Our Guide will pick you up after breakfast, pack your lunch box ready to start your full day gamedrive at Mikumi National Park. The park’s variety of wildlife could not have been exhausted in the preivious day so sit tight and enjoy your adventure as the wildlife in Mikumi can easily be spotted and also is well acclimatized to game viewing. Be on the look for Elephant, Giraffe, Buffalo, Zebra, Antelope, Wildebeest, Lions, Eland, Crocodile, Hippo, Baboon and if you are lucky, won’t miss to see a Leopard. The other fascinating attraction today apart from game drive is the visit to the Hippo Pool, where you can watch hippos wallowing and snorting at close range. In the late afternoon you will return to Camp Bastian for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: Transfer to Udzungwa Mountains National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to The Udzungwa Mountain National Park (2 Hours drive) which is well known for its biologically diverse forest, with approximately 20 – 30% out of 200 animals and plant species that grow there not found any where in the world. Still it is really beautiful place for hiking. It is one of the top ten forests for bird conservation in Africa. Variety of animal species can be found here, including water buffalo, elephants, and full of reptiles and snakes and more.

After arriving you will have Mang’ula village tour (in the local village, with a local resident English speaking guide) or Rubber plantation tour (learn all about rubber and latex) or Nature trail walk (around and about camp) or Sonjo or Sanje day hike (same day return) or a combonation of some. DAY 5: Full day at Udzungwa Mountain National Park

Today is dedicated to Sanje and Mwanihana overnight hike. Instead of taking half a day to complete the Sanje trail, head up and make camp in the forest overnight with the help of our campsite team. The most common walk is the Sanje Waterfalls trail which takes approximately four hours to complete and allows the visitor access to the stunning 170 m waterfall and includes swimming in the waterfall plunge pools as part of the activity. Spend the magical evening under the forest canopy, eating by firelight and sleeping under canvas to the sounds of the forest. Awake early to breakfast looking out over the Kilombero Valley from the top of the waterfall, and then spend the morning wandering down through the forest, spotting wildlife and splashing in waterfall pools on the way down. Day 6: Flyback home/Join other safari trips/Opt for beach holiday in Zanzibar

The car will be waiting after breakfast to take you back to Dar es salaam or JNIA where you will catch your flight home until next time
